About the Club

The Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Club of Great Britain (HWVCGB) was founded in 2006 and achieved Kennel Club recognition in 2011. 

The Club prides itself on catering for its members, and offers opportunities for owners of this versatile breed to get involved in events throughout the year.  The Club holds an annual Open Show and a Championship Show, and also runs working and training events organised by the Field Trial Secretary.  The Club held it’s first Field Trial in January 2018 and strives to secure the best ground for it’s training days, Working Tests and Field Trials.  No wonder they are so popular with handlers of HWVs and other breeds in the HPR world!

The Club’s motto is “To Serve the Breed” and it aims to support owners of these wonderful dogs, as well as advise those who are new to the breed or looking to buy their first puppy.  The welfare of the breed is very important to the Club, and it works with Hungarian Vizsla Welfare Charity to offer financial support for dogs who have unfortunately found themselves in need of rehoming.  The Club runs fund raising events dedicated to its welfare work so that support is always available for dogs in need.

The Club produces a regular newsletter and the committee are more than happy to offer advice and support on all aspects of HWV ownership, regardless of whether the dog works, shows or is a much-loved companion.
